1 ppt is 0.1%. Measure salinity before adding salt and after it has mixed for 24 hours. The volume range assumes a meter accurate to ±0.05 ppt on each reading; test strips may be too coarse.
Use plain sodium chloride without additives, never road de-icing salt. Dissolve it in pond water before adding near the return flow. Spread a therapeutic dose over 24 to 48 hours, following the product instructions. Salt remains after evaporation and leaves through water changes.
