Add shelves and round corners
Make a constant-width shelf
- Select the layer immediately above the new shelf.
- Open Shape and measurements, then Constant-width shelf.
- Enter Shelf width (in).
- Enter Shelf depth below water (in).
- Choose Create inside selected layer.
The width is the inward distance from the selected outline. Depth is measured from the waterline, not from the layer you selected.
For example, a shelf at 12 inches and a floor at 36 inches leave 24 inches of depth between them. A new layer between those two must have a depth greater than 12 and less than 36 inches.
The new outline must fit inside its parent and contain deeper layers. If a deeper layer blocks it, reduce the shelf width or adjust that deeper outline. A very wide shelf can also collapse a narrow part of the pond.
Add ledge creates another intermediate layer. Use Constant-width shelf when you want to specify the offset from an existing outline.
Round corners
Select the outline and open Round corners. Enter Radius (in), choose Round all corners and inspect the preview. Choose Apply round to save it.
For one corner, choose Pick corner, select a corner on the plan and inspect the preview before applying it.
A radius can be too large for a short edge or can cross a deeper layer. Use a smaller radius or adjust the surrounding geometry when the tool reports a conflict.
Check the volume
Change a floor depth and compare the displayed volume estimates and Studio views.

Pond Tools. Plan your pond before you dig. Your pond outline is only part of its volume estimate. Depth matters too. This design has a thirty-six-inch floor and an estimated volume of two thousand, three hundred and five US gallons. In the plan, change the deep floor from thirty-six to forty-two inches. The outline and shelf depths stay the same. Open Studio again to inspect the deeper floor. The new volume estimate is two thousand, four hundred and seventy-six US gallons. That is one hundred and seventy-one more gallons, with the same surface area of two hundred and seven point four square feet. Use measured dimensions and depths. Rock and gravel reduce the finished water volume.
The video changes a depth while keeping the outline. Compare the displayed estimate before and after the edit, then inspect the layers in Studio.
Adding a shelf changes the space available for water. Check the volume after applying it, then inspect each layer's depth. Undo restores the previous edit if the result is not what you intended.
